Pambei-led UNLF seizes drugs worth ₹26 lakh

Imphal, May 21 2024: A team of Pambei-led United National Liberation Front (UNLF) seized psychotropic drugs (Nitrosun 10, Diazepam and codeine syrup) worth around Rs 26 lakh from a warehouse in Sangaiprou area on Monday.

Speaking to media persons at Langol Ningthou Leikai on Tuesday, Pambei-led UNLF media coordinator Charairongba informed that a special team of the party conducted drive based on inputs about transportation of drugs and subsequently seized the drugs from the warehouse.

While revealing identity of owner of the seized drugs as Nongthombam Jamesjit alias Thoi, son of N Meghajit, who is also proprietor of Kangla Drugs & Surgical Pharmacy, Naoremthong Bazar, the spokesperson advised Jamesjit to report to the Front within three days.

One Nongthombam Meghajit and Jamesjit's father in-law Ngariyanbam Hitler of Sagolband Tera Lukram Leirak, also involved in drug business, are in the outfit's custody, he said while informed that Hitler owns the warehouse.

Charairongba further announced that the Front will discuss actions against the accused while cautioning of stringent action against drug dealers.

He also declared permanent ban on Kangla Drugs and Surgical Pharmacy.

The seized items handed over to Langol Apunba Nupi Lup and Universal Mothers' Organisation (UMO) were destroyed by burning.
