Imphal, October 20 2024:
Meitei Society, Churachandpur, and Meetei Council Moreh jointly held a discourse to discuss the ongoing crisis in the state and the government's inability to resolve the situation.
The discourse held at Hotel Elegance, Moirang, in Bishnupur district on Sunday, had the participants expressing concern over political manoeuvres and the lack of progress in addressing the state's issues.
In a joint press release, the organisations condemned the political game surrounding a memorandum reportedly submitted to the Prime Minister by 19 MLAs, which called for the removal of the present chief minister.
The meet expressed disappointment, noting that many had placed high hopes on the recent talks of ruling MLAs held in Delhi, believing it would be a step toward a peaceful resolution.
However, the lack of tangible outcomes left the public disillusioned.
The organisations appealed to the MLAs to refrain from engaging in political infighting during such a critical time, stressing that now is not the moment for political competition.
In addition to their political concerns, the two organisations urged the government to expedite the release of special financial assistance promised to the displaced individuals by the government ahead of the upcoming Ningol Chakkouba festival.
The release further highlighted that the displaced people are living without a stable income and need immediate support.
The organisations also called for additional aid to help these individuals, who are facing significant hardships due to their current circumstances.
