Task force formed as dengue cases rise

The health department has constituted a State Task Force to tackle the ongoing dengue outbreak, as the number of reported cases continues to climb.
The task force, established with the approval of the secretariat health department, will be responsible for coordinating the state's efforts to control vector-borne diseases, with a particular focus on dengue.
This action follows a surge in dengue cases, with the total now reaching 1,459, and four confirmed deaths.
The newly formed task force, chaired by the health secretary and co-chaired by the director, includes director of family welfare, and representatives from departments including public health, finance, tribal welfare, and social welfare," members of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), medical colleges (RIMS & JNIMS), and Indian Medical Association (IMA).
The chairman has the authority to co-opt additional experts as needed to strengthen the task force's response.
On Tuesday, 35 new dengue cases were reported, adding to the previous tally of 1,424 .
The health department has taken steps to ensure that the general public remains informed about the evolving situation.
Daily updates on dengue infection and mortality data are now available on the official website of the directorate of health, https://manipurhealthdirectorate.mn.gov.in/ allowing residents to monitor the outbreak in real-time.
The task force's primary objective is to enhance the state's preparedness and response to dengue by improving inter-departmental coordination and mobilising resources.
Measures include awareness campaigns, vector control programmes, and ensuring proper medical treatment for those affected.
The health department urged the public to remain vigilant, practice preventive measures, and seek medical attention if symptoms of dengue, such as fever and joint pain, occur.
