'Relax ILP regime for Meiteis of Cachar'

A memorandum has been submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Jiribam district to relax the ILP regime for Meiteis of Cachar.
Informing this, Advisor of United Clubs Organisation, Lakhipur, Cachar Lt Col Gour Kishore Singh told media persons that the memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister urged for relaxing the ILP regime for Meiteis of Cachar, Assam, and it was handed to Jiribam Deputy Commissioner to be submitted to the Chief Minister.
Reiterating the appeal of Cachar CSOs, United Clubs Organisation president Khaidem Kanta Singh said the imposition of ILP has made movement difficult for the Meiteis living in Cachar.
People of Cachar and Jiribam are kins and share close ties.
As such, they visit each other every now and then but the enforcement of ILP in Manipur has turned out to be a big hurdle, he said.
Women's Action Committee for Village Protection, Cachar president Sunita Konthoujam also expressed her concerns on the issue.
