Literary awards presented, books released

Imphal, June 12 2022: Sheihek Seireng Seipan Shemgat Lup organised literary awards distribution and book releasing function at Manipur Press Club here on Sunday.

'Khomdram Bidhu and Leimakhubi Lifetime Achievement Award 2021' donated by family of Khomdram Dorendro was presented to writer Khangembam Ibeton Devi and 'Dr Mayengbam Kamala Sheirol Mana 2021' donated by Dr Mayengbam Kamala, to writer Kshetrimayum Subadani.

The award included cash; citation, memento and stole.

Speaking as chief guest of the function, MLA Karam Shyam acknowledged that people who are in the held of literature�art and culture are sincerely taking their responsibilities and bringing laurels for the state thereby earning Manipur the 'Sanaleibak' tag.

As the authors are pointing out the wrongs of the society fearlessly through their works they need to continue such works for the future generation, he maintained, while adding that the litterateurs are playing big roles in introducing Manipur to the world, but they db not get the moral support they deserve.

Two books namely 'Ningtham Eshei' which is a collection of Manipuri lyrical poems compiled by Rakesh Naorem and Khangembam Ibeton Devi's book of lyrical poems, 'Chingleibakni Chingleibal' were released during the function.

The function presided over by SHEIPAL president Athokpam Kholchandra was also attended by Imphal West Up-Adyaksha Laishram Boby Devi and Imphal East Up-Adyaksha Kshetri Tama as guests of honour.

Meanwhile, two novels titled Nongmei Amasung Ka-lam and 'Kanglei Reporter' were released in a function held held at Manipur Hindi Parishad, here with AIR programme head Adhikarimayum Geetchandra Sharma and Dr Tondon as presidium members.

On the other hand, Hao-bam Nalini released her poetry book named 'Nungshithoibi' at MDU hall which was attended by Cultural Forum, Manipur president Huidrom Bihari Singh, Leimarol Khorjeikol (LEIKOL) president Kshetri Subadani Devi and Naharol Sahitya Premi Samiti, Imphal president L Upendra Sharma as presidium members.
