National Lok Adalat held, over Rs 3 cr settled

Imphal, September 11 2021: Under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority, Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in collaboration with High Court Legal Services Committee and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) conducted the 3rd National Lok Adalat across the state on Saturday.

The National Lok Adalat for Imphal East and Imphal West was conducted at ADR building, Lamphel Court Complex.

Similar Lok Adalats were also conducted in Bishnupur, Thoubal, Ukhrul, Senapati, Churachandpur, Tamenglong, Jiribam, Tengnoupal and Chandel districts as well as at Manipur High Court.

The Lok Adalat for Imphal East and Imphal West was organised by MSLSA during which four benches heard the petitions through online mode.

The first bench comprised State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission Judicial Member Th Saimon as chairman and advocate Ch Nanda as member, the second bench had District and Sessions Judge Imphal East RK Memcha as chairperson and advocate Ch Momon as member and the third was led by retired District and Sessions Judge A Noutuneshwari as chairperson with advocate B Supriya in attendance as member whfle the fourth bench was headed by CJM Imphal West Y Somorjit as chairman with advocate Ch Bimolchandra in attendance as member.

In all, 287.6 pending and pre-litigation cases of various courts, legal aid clinics, consumer forums, tribunals, banks, etc., were referred.

Of these, 392 cases were taken up and 316 disposed of with a total settlement of Rs 3,28,40,731 .

The online Lok Adalat, which was conducted keeping in mind the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic situation, has helped in resolving many cases without causing the litigants to waste much time or money.

On top of conducting the National Lok Adalat, MASLSA has been conducting state Lok Adalats from time to time.

DLSA Churachandpur also constituted two benches and conducted the National Lok Adalat on Saturday.

The first bench consisted of District and Sessions Judge cum chairman DLSA Churachandpur N Kreetichand as chairman with advocate Songzamang Tombing and BAR Churachandpur president Lalrinchana Bawitlung as members.

The bench took up 30 cases related to SBI and UBI and another 25 cases concerning PHE water bill.

The second bench consisted of CJM cum secretary DLSA Churachandpur Janggoulen Haokip as chairman with advocates Grace Chiingoiniang and Lhingneikim as members.

The bench took up 6 pending cases of Canara Bank and 11 Matrimonial Disputes while disposing 3 Civil Cases.

Around Rs 23,31,807 were settled during the Lok Adalat.

SENAPATI: Several court pending cases and pre-litiga-tion bank cases were settled during National Lok Adalat held at District & Sessions Court, Senapati, on Saturday.

Addressing media persons in this regard, Samom Ibjen, chairman of District & Sessions Judge, Senapati, stated that under the direction and guidance of National Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority, Senapati organised the National Lok Adalat.

During the process, bank loan amounting to Rs 53,84,543 was settled out of which, Rs 10,15,543 was recovered.

The National Lok Adalat was conducted with Samom Ibjen as chairman in the presence of Ashem Tarunakumari Devi, CJM Senapati and Merysana, advocate in attendance as members.

In all, 19 pre-litigation bank cases and 4 court pending cases were settled during the National Lok Adalat.

The court of District & Sessions Judge, Senapati will organise another Lok Adalat in the month of December on second Saturday and it has asked people of Senapati and Kangpokpi to come forward and make use of the Lok Adalat.
