ITLF condemns SF action, demands release

Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) has condemned alleged act of heinous persecution by state and central security forces against Kuki-Zo community and demanded release of the innocent civilians who were detained at the earliest.
In a release, ITLF Department of Media & Publicity stated that on Tuesday morning, state and central forces opened heavy firing at the house of chief of L Hengjol village in Kangpokpi district and also detained three innocent villagers.
Residents of Phaitol in Jiribam were harassed by state and central forces as they were conducting search operation on July 8 .
Two teenage boys not affiliated with any armed groups were taken into custody during the operation.
Additionally, in another operation on Tuesday, the security personnel harassed the residents of Saikot area in Churachandpur district, it claimed.
ITLF further alleged that Meetei groups openly flaunt sophisticated weapons in public.
They are responsible for the deaths of numerous Kuki-Zo people.
The Imphal valley's armoury has all been pillaged, but nothing has been done to them, not even an arrest, thus far.
This demonstrates the security forces' partiality in their operations, it maintained.
ITLF also emphasised that Kuki-Zo people are always cooperative with the law enforcement agencies, but they are harassed and even arrested when they fully cooperate with the security forces.
State and central forces are opening fire at the houses of Kuki-Zo people, threatening their lives and causing property damage.
Kuki-Zo people are being brutally persecuted, and this is an outrageous breach of their human rights, it contended.
