Ukhrul, October 14 2021:
In a major blow to NPF, a total of 12 official members of 43-Phungyar NPF resigned en masse from the party's primary membership in support of BJP's intending candidate Hopingson A Shimray in the forthcoming General Elections 2022.The members submitted their resignation letter to the working president of the party's Divisional Unit, Ukhrul onThursday.
The members included Khayao Hungyo (working president), Hompam Hungshi (vice president) , Thotsem Hungyo (vice president), Seimang Haokip (vice president), Rockson A Shimray (general secretary), Reddy Shishak (joint secretary), Wungnaokhan Shiro (press secretary), Rockson Kashung (Farmer Wing president), SP Matuime (Farmer Wing vice president), SD Ning- hor (Youth Wing secretary), Sochuingam Kashung (Youth Wing vice president Ukhrul division) and MC Nganaomi (Advisory Board chairman).
"This is to officially state that, having been active members and party officials for the past many years, the time to take the hardest decision in our political journey has come as we have waited and borne the burden long enough," the members said in a statement soon after submitting their resignation.
According to the statement, in spite of their indubitable love for the NPF as a political party, they were compelled to be mere spectators and were treated like outsiders by the elected representative.
"This was firmly established time and again when the representative gave such a vapid and discriminatory attitude towards the party men who had laid the foundation of the party sweating their blood" .
"Therefore, despite our concern for the NPF party, we the below mentioned officials hereby resigned with immediate effect from dated: 14-10-21 in support of Hopingson A Shimray who is an intending candidate from the BJP party for the 43-Phungyar (ST) AC in the upcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly election 2022," it said.
"It is our firm believe that Hopingson A Shimray with an inclusive approach is a qualified, mature, sincere and experienced leader for the 43-Phungyar (ST) AC," the statement added.
