Senapati, July 30 2025:
A case hearing was conducted in the chamber of the State Chief Information Commissioner (SCIC) regarding the alleged mismanagement and false reporting of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) status in Senapati district.
The hearing on Tuesday was summoned against social activist RK Paul Chawang from Oklong Maryram village, who filed an RTI petition seeking transparency in JJM implementation in Senapati district.
A delegation comprising village authorities, student leaders, activists and youth leaders from various Naga ethnic communities across Senapati district took part in the hearing.
During the hearing, Executive Engineer (EE) of PHED Senapati Gaijinlung Thaimei produced some data as per the RTI request.
However, 10 crucial points of information were not provided, leaving the complainant unsatisfied.
Post returning from Imphal, RK Paul stated that he decided to write to the State Public Information Officer (SPIO) to seek the pending information and determine the next course of action.
Village authorities, student leaders, activists and youth leaders who took part the hearing expressed their collective anger and frustration over deprivation of their fundamental right to access clean water due to alleged corruption and false reporting in JJM fund utilization.
They said that Naga tribal communities have collectively decided to stand together to fight for justice and ensure effective implementation of the JJM scheme.
