Folktale writing, painting competition held

Kakching, March 28 2022: Under the aegis of State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Kakching organised a District-Level Manipuri Folk Tale Story Writing and Painting Competition in connection with School Adoption Programme, at its premises on Monday.

In all, 80 students from Class I-VIII of government schools under Zonal Education Office Kakching took part in the competitions.

The painting competition was held for students of Class I-V on the theme 'Maintaining Covid Appropriate Behaviour (SoP) to Protect from Covid-19' .

The first prize was bagged by Elangbam Nikhil Singh of Practicing Junior High School, Kakching, second by W Gulbash Shaha of Kakching Khullen Primary School and third by M Monish of Kakching Turel Wangma Junior High School.

They were presented certificates and cash prizes of Rs 1500,1200, and 1000 respectively.

The Manipuri Folk Tale Story Writing Competition was conducted for students of Class VI-VIII, wherein Mayanglambam Yoihenba of Kakching Khunou Government High School; Baby Rose Mayanglambam of Practicing Junior High School, Kakching, and Th Roshan Singh of Kakching Higher Secondary School won first, second and third place respectively.

They were presented certificates and cash prizes of Rs 1500,1200, and 1000 respectively.

In both the competitions, 5 students each were awarded Rs 500 as consolation prize and Rs 100 each to all participating students, along with certificates.

The competition was attended by DIET Kakching retired principal Naorem Birmangal as chief guest, ZEO Kakching Assistant Inspector of Schools Elangbam Surendrajit as president and programme in-charges Laiphrakpam Romola Devi, Hajarimayum Prahlada Sharma and DIET Kakching lecturer Kshetrimayum Pratima Devi as the presidium members.

The School Adoption Programme was organised with the aim of promoting the hidden talents of students studying in government schools through co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
