UMO raises posers to CM wannabes

Universal Mothers' Organisation (UMO) has appealed to the 19 legislators who lobbied New Delhi for replacing the incumbent chief minister to make public who will be leading the state and its people as the new chief minister.
Speaking to media persons at its Lamphel office on Sunday, UMO president Moirangthem Sarojini pointed out that several lives were lost and many injured since the conflict broke out on May 3, 2023 .
As the conflict lingers, people had hoped that the legislators who went to New Delhi for the talk to end the violence may bring positive results.
Defying public expectations, the 19 legislators pushed for ousting the current chief minister.
While questioning whether the MLAs and ministers have shouldered any notable responsibility to end the conflict, she praised chief minister for launching war on drugs, his effort to implement NRC, construct border fencing and firm resolve for upholding integrity of Manipur.
However, UMO too shares public's disappointment that the chief minister has not lived up to the people's expectations.
As such, those intending to helm the state's affairs should come out in the public within 10 days, she demanded.
If the 19 legislators who lobbied Delhi for replacing chief minister tender resignation than president's rule is imminent in the state, she observed, while questioning the 19 legislators whether they did not care about plight of the village volunteers and Meira Paibis in case president's rule is imposed in the state.
Stating that acts of the 19 MLAs will be considered as supporting Kukis, she said that they should encourage and support the chief minister if they think for the welfare of the people.
