Visually impaired receiving moral, mental support: Minister

The yearlong golden jubilee celebration of Ideal Blind School, Takyel organised by Ideal Blind School Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee culminated at the school's campus on Monday.
Speaking as chief guest of the valedictory function, Social Welfare minister Heikham Dingo informed that the Social Welfare Department has been extending moral and mental support to the visually impaired students through various interaction programmes.
He also expressed pleasure that despite facing numerous challenges, the School has been producing many quality students, with around 212 out of 216 students passing the high school leaving certificate examination.
The students have also progressed significantly in various skill development programmes including handicrafts, he said, while informing that the government had also set up another Blind School in Pallel.
The closing function was also attended by Social Welfare director Ngangom Uttam as guest of honour and joint director Jiteshwar Keisham as functional president.
During the function, students who passed this year's HSLCE, qualified PhDs and child national awardees were felicitated.
The students of the school also presented various cultural performances, following by an exhibition of pieces crafted by the students.
