Imphal, July 10 2024:
Taking serious note of inept administration in Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) affecting careers of students, six student organisations namely MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK, AIMS and another body have urged authorities concerned to resolve problems afflicting the varsity within short notice while cautioning of launching intense agitation if the issues remain unaddressed.
Addressing media persons at AIMS' Kwakeithel office, here, on Wednesday, Oinam Nickerson, who is coordinator of the six student bodies and AIMS president, regretted that five colleges under DMU revered in the past for producing excellent students, have deteriorated since amalgamation under university.
He also criticised the appointment of bureaucrats instead of regular administrators to the posts of VC, registrar, controller of examinations, finance officer and exam staff, attributing such a policy for the sorry state of affairs in the constituent colleges.
The coordinator pointed out that the university has failed to timely declare results of graduate and postgraduate semester examinations, issue mark sheets and certificates, causing serious problems to students preparing for exams and applying scholarships.
Additionally, fellowship payments of research scholars have been neglected.
Nickerson reiterated that the government should intervene to save the careers of students by appointing regular administrators such as VC, Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Finance Officer and necessary staff while cautioning that failure to act promptly, will compel the student bodies to join hands with the aggrieved students in intensifying the ongoing agitations.
