12 relief camps opened up in Thoubal

Thoubal, May 06 2024: In view of the extensive damage caused by the heavy rain and intense hailstorm on Sunday which left many people homeless, Thoubal district administration has set up 12 relief camps at Khangabok Mayai Leikai community hall, Khangabok Moirangpali Upper Primary School, Kha Khundol Upper Primary School (Khangabok), Eastern Star Higher Secondary' School (Khangabok), Wangjing SK Leikai, Wangjing Tekcham Leikai, Pioneer Club (Wangjing Hodamba), Heirok Higher Sec -ondary School, Heirok Heitup Pokpi Upper Primary School, Salungpham Upper Primary School, Heirok Ngarouthel, and Lamding Elangbam Leikai.

Around 1000 people are estimated to be seeking shelter in the relief camps.

The district administration has begun distributing food items and mattresses for the relief camps, a report conveyed.
