CM Biren meets residents of Kumbi AC

Chief minister N Biren Singh had an interaction programme with the underprivileged residents of polling station number 35 under Kumbi assembly constituency at Kumbi Terakhong Public Ground on Saturday.
The interaction organised by BJP Kumbi Mandal was attended by Works minister Govindas Konthoujam, Health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan, CAF&PD minister L Susindro, Lamlai MLA and MANIDCO chairman Kh Ibomcha, Kumbi MLA S Premchandra, and LDA chairman M Ashnikumar among others.
In his address to the gathering after welcoming newly enrolled BJP members, chief minister regretted loss of many innocent lives in the conflict, but expressed relief that peace is being gradually restored with the cooperation and support of the central government.

Stating that the Meetei community has recorded history of 2000 years, he maintained that such a long-standing heritage should not be jeopardised by fleeting desires for short-term gains.
Government initiated "Go to Hills" and "Go to Village" programme to foster peace and unity in the state, maintained the chief minister, and stressed the need for collective efforts to check the alarming trend of a decreasing indigenous population contrary to increase in the number of outsiders and illegal immigrants.
The CM also announced several measures to address the issue of illegal immigration, including the re-implementation of the free regime movement, the use of biometrics for identifying illegal immigrants and the commencement of border fencing construction.
He stressed the importance of eradicating poppy plantations and identifying illegal immigrants as part of the government's duties.
On the development front, the chief minister mentioned that over 500 internally displaced persons had been provided jobs in government and private sectors.
He also shared plans for infrastructure improvements, including upgrade of the Kumbi-Wangoo road, development of Pengba Farm in Kumbi with grant of Rs 50 lakh and the construction of a mini-stadium at Terakhong Public Ground with estimated project cost of Rs 2.5 crore.
Additionally, a new fire substation will be established in Kumbi, he informed.
