Competitions, commendations mark World AIDS Day observance

Imphal, December 01 2022: As in other parts of the country, the 34th World AIDS Day was observed by various district administrations and organisations in their respective districts and offices on Thursday.

World AIDS Day is observed globally every year on December 1 to create awareness on HIV/AIDS and to commemorate the lives lost due to HIV related causes.

SENAPATI: District AIDS Prevention and Control Committee, Senapati and Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Senapati jointly organised World AIDS Day observance at DRDA conference hall, Senapati on the theme 'Equalise'.

The programme was attended by Senapati chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Pfokreho Pfoze as president and Senapati District Women Association president RN Hannah as guest of honour.

As part of the observance, prizes were distributed to students who won the spot painting competition.

Testimonies were also given by SNP+.

The observance was also attended by DLOs, students, ASHA workers and youth volunteers.

It may be mentioned here that District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit is looking after Senapati and Kangpokpi district.

Related HIV/AIDS service that can be obtained from centres in respect of Senapati district are four Stand Alone Integrated Counselling & Testing Centre (SAICTC) at District Hospital, Senapati; sub-district Hospital, Mao and Mobile ICTC along with six Facility Based Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre (FICTC) at PHCs and Health & Wellness Centres; one Sexually Transmitted Infections/Reproductive Tract Infection (STI/RTI) Clinic at District Hospital; one TI-NGO at Senapati District Youth Council (SDYC); and one Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) at District Hospital, Senapati.

Facilities available in Kangpokpi district include SAICTC at District Hospital, Kangpokpi; PHC Motbung and PHC Saikul; five FICTC at PHCs and Health and Wellness Centres; three TI-NGOs at Meitei Leimalon Sinai Sang (MLSS), Scientific Research and Rehabilitation Network Organisation (SRARNO) and Rural Community Development Centre (RCDC), Saikul and two OST Centres at Saikul and Motbung.

NONEY/TAMENGLONG: World AIDS Day was observed at CMO Office Complex, Tamenglong on the Theme 'Equalise' by District Prevention & Control Unit (DAPCU), Tamenglong.

The programme sponsored jointly by Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) and National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) was attended by Tamenglong SDO S Imo-sana Meitei as chief guest, CMO Dr G Majachunglu as functional president and district tuberculosis officer Dr Guidiathiu Kahmei as guest of honour.

Similarly, Tamenglong Battalion of 22 Sector/IGAR (E) conducted an awareness lecture for its personnel at Battalion headquarters on the occasion of World AIDS Day 2022 held under the theme 'Equalise'.

In a release, PRO (Defence) stated that a lecture was delivered by senior medical officer of the battalion on HIV/AIDS prevention and for equalising access to essential HIV services and implementing a 'zero tolerance' policy to stigma and discrimination in all health services. CHURACHANDPUR: Observance of World ADS Day 2022 was held at Synod hall under the theme 'Equalise' and it was participated by five NGOs, PPO, SHALOM, Link Worker, MSF and Happiness Home.

The observance was attended by additional deputy commissioner Churachandpur Khaikhopau and District Hospital CMO Kimneilam as special guests and was marked by a special programme performed by the MSF and Happiness Home.

The observance also witnessed HIV positive people taking out a rally carrying banners up to the function venue.

JIRIBAM: World AIDS Day was observed by Child Welfare Ashram TI, Jiribam by organising poster and wall painting campaigns on HIV/AIDS at different parts of,the district.

A rally was also taken out from Jiribam Higher Secondary School, Babupara till Irabot statue with rallyists holding placards raising awareness on HIV/AIDS.

KAKCHING: District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), Chandel in collaboration with New Generation (LWS), CNP+, CSC-Vihaan, NCPI+ AHANA, TI-NGO RC-SWACD, SASO, OVC Accelerate Project and PATH under the aegis of MACS observed World AIDS Day at Chandel Christian village community hall on Thursday.

The programme held under the theme 'Equalise' was attended by Chandel DC Mayanglambam Rajkumar as chief guest and CMO Dr Serthani Serbum as functional president, while ANBA executive secretary reverend Dr Huten Wilson, Naga Chiefs Association, Chandel president Ts Ruwngval were present as guests of honour.

The function was also at tended by Chandel and Tengnoupal district AIDS control officer Dr B Cingdeihnieng and DAPCU, Chandel DIS Dr Y Santosh, among others.

During the event, mass testing campaign for HIV and syphilis was also launched along with distribution of testing kits.

The dignitaries also presented a certificate of appreciation from MACS to ART Chandel on getting recognised as 'Best ART Cen tre in State' based on NACO Score Card.

Meanwhile, District AIDS Prevention and Control Committee, Thoubal in collaboration with various organisations under the aegis of MACS observed 34th World AIDS Day 2022 at central public hall, Yumbi Macha High School Kakching campus on Thursday.

The observance was attended by Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar as chief guest and DC Somorjit Salam as president, while Thoubal CMO Dr Y Nokul, Kakching CMO Dr Thaodem Rajen, Thoubal district malaria officer Dr L Lalitkumar and CESCA, Kakching president Ningombam Rameshwar were present as guests of honour.

An awareness rally on HIV/AIDS was also carried out as part of the observance.
