Books 'Eisu Meerep Oirage', 'Kamayani' released

Imphal, July 31 2022: A poetry book entitled 'Eisu Meerep Oirage' written by Wahengbam Nimaichand has been released by Wangkhei MLA Th Arunkumar in a function held at Manipur Press Club here on Sunday.

The book release function was also attended by Sahitya Akademi awardee Dr Thokchom Ibohanbi while Dr Saratchandra Longjam of DM University Manipuri department spoke about the book.

Meanwhile, Manipuri version of Jaishankar Prasad's book, 'Kamayani', translated from Hindi to Manipuri by Laishram Kamal was released in a function organised by Manipuri Literary Society at the hall of Manipur Hindi Parishad, here on Sunday.

The book release function was presided over by Manipuri Language Advisory Board convenor Nongmaithem Kirankumar as chief guest; Manipuri Literary Society president Naorem Lokeshwar as president and ex-president Samurailatpam Prahlad Sharma as guest of honour.

DM College Arts associate professor Sagolsem Lanchenda Meetei shared his opinions on the book.

Speaking on the occasion, Laishram Kamal noted that Jaishankar Prasad is one of the most famous Hindi poets, comparable to the likes of Rabindranath Tagore.

His works beautifully describe human emotions and emphasise that equality can help resolve all issues of the society.

Kamal then said that he took 7-8 years to translate the poet's famous work.
