FEGOCTA submits recommendations to Javadekar

The Federation of Government College Teachers' Associations(FEGOCTA), Manipur has submitted their recommendations for the 7th UGC ROP to Prakash Javadekar, Union HRD Minister, at a meeting on Oct 3 in Imphal, said a statement from FEGOCTA.
The recommendations highlighted the "failures, distortions and great variations in the implementations of the 6th UGC ROP".
FEGOCTA suggested uniform UGC Scales of pay and "Payment of arrears, extending of 100% assistance to the State Governments in North East India and ensure full implementation of 7th UGC ROP within a time frame", a training programme for "entry level Assistant Professors for a period of 3 months and two advance increments for every five years for Associate Professors who have completed one Refresher Course, attended two Seminars/ Conferences/ Workshops and engaged actively in teaching" .
Higher pay scales than civil service has been suggested as well to attract and retain talented teachers, while study leaves for teachers taking part in postdoctoral, Ph.D, etc, should be granted, said the statement.
API will be modified to count all three categories if it is not removed, while the scale and designation of Principals will remain as Professors.
Exchange programmes among universities in India and foreign countries should be introduced, while funding for research and research facilities will be provided by the UGC, industries and State Govt, concluded the statement.
