Constitution Day observed in districts

Spt/Non/Tbl, November 26 2019: Celebrating the 70th anniversary of adoption of the Constitution of India, Constitution Day was observed across districts today.

The Constitution of India was adopted in 1949 by the Constituent Assembly.

The Constituent Assembly held its first session on December 9, 1947 .

The Drafting Committee of the Constitution was headed by B R Ambedkar who is often referred to as the 'architect of the Indian Constitution' .

Senapati: To reinforce the significance and importance of Constitution and instil a sense of patriotism among the students, the NSS of Don Bosco College Maram celebrated the day at its campus.

Principal Fr (Dr) KO Sebastian, addressed the students about the significance of the Constitution Day and the importance of being a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic and Republic country.

A special session was organised where the students read aloud the Preamble to the Constitution, followed by the viewing of the live telecast of the commemoration function of the Constitution Day in Delhi.

The students witnessed the speeches by President Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Modi.

Floral tributes were paid to the Father of the Indian Constitution B R Ambedkar.

Noney/Tamenglong: The National Constitution Day was observed at different parts of Noney and Tamenglong districts today organised by District Legal Services Authority Tamenglong.

The Preamble of the Constitution of India was read out lead by H Worshang, Deputy Commissioner Noney, at his office chamber.

The day was also observed at Battalion Hq of 10th AR Noney with Khamjoklung Gondaimei, Coordinator, Legal Aid Clinic Noney presiding the programme at the Battalion Hq of 10th AR Noney.

Around 50 jawans attended the observance.

Para-Legal Volunteers of Legal Aid Clinic Noney, PG Singsit, SP Noney, SDOs of Noney, Nungba, Khoupum & Haochong & other DLOs and Village Authority leaders attended.

Students Legal Literacy Club attached to Tengkonjang Hr Sec School Noney and other private and Government schools in Noney, Nungba, Haochong and Khoupum also observed the day.

Thoubal: The District Legal Services Authority Thoubal under the sponsorship of the Manipur State Legal Services Authority Imphal observed the Constitution Day at the premises of District and Session Court Thoubal, Khangabok.

Family Court Thoubal Judge Salam Imocha Singh, District & Sessions Judge, Thoubal Salam Tara Devi, Civl Judge (Sr Div) cum CJM, Thoubal Athokpam Shanta Devi, DLSA Thoubal Secretary Ashem Tarunakumari Devi, Civil Judge (Junior Div) cum JMFC Thoubal Sharda Yengkhom and Thoubal District Bar Association president S Maipak Singh attended the event.

Advocate Kh Arunjoy Singh and Advocate Kh Jeton Meite talked about Constitution at the event.

Prizes of Legal literacy quiz held at Kakching, Yairipok and Khangabok were distributed to winners.

The Constitution Day was also jointly organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Chandel & Thoubal in collaboration with H Kotlenphai Youth Club at H Kotlenphai, Pallel under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The gathering took pledge to respect and preserve the spirit of the Constitution.

District Youth coordinator Thoubal Micheal Thangminlen Mate, District AIDS Control Officer Chandel Dr Cingdeinieng, District Youth coordinator NYK Chandel Rameson Monsang and advisory member of NYK Thoubal Lokendro spoke at the event.

Sports materials were distributed by Thensei Haokip, chairman Village Authority of H Kotlenphai.

Around 130 youths attended the event.
