Mohan Bhagwat leads in paying homage to Netaji

Imphal, January 23 2022: Chief of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Dr Mohan Bhagwat paid floral tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on Sunday at Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Skill Development Centre, Haraorou, Imphal East on the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

While addressing the gathering at the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose organised by RSS, Manipur Prant, Dr Mohan Bhagwat said that RSS celebrated the birth anniversary of Netaji every year across the country, but this year's celebration is important as it coincides with the 75th year of India's independence for which Netaji sacrificed his entire life.

For this independence, Netaji raised an army and fought against the British.

"Netaji is a symbol of courage, Nationalism, dedication and selfless sacrifice.

His life is an inspiration for all of us.

He lived not for himself but for others and the Nation.

India was ruled by the British and he fought for independence'', the RSS chief said.

He stated that following Netaji's vision and instilling the spirit of Nationalism, unity and sacrifice would be the real tribute.

Dr Mohan Bhagwat is in Manipur on a four-day visit for Karyakarta Beithak.

Family members of war heroes Moirang Koireng and Heman Nilamani were also present during the celebration and paid tribute to the portrait of Netaji.

As part of the celebration a photo gallery of the Indian National Army and Netaji's life was also displayed.

The celebration was also attended by Sunil Deshpande, Ulhash Kulkarni, Vashista Bajur Baruah, Kh Rajen Singh, MM Asokan and other prominent personalities.

Separately, the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was also observed at INA Martyrs' Memorial Complex, Moirang as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration today.

The event was organised by Department of Art & Culture, Govt of Manipur and was attended by M Joy Singh, Commissioner, Art & Culture as the chief guest, L Kishworjit, Director, Art & Culture as the functional president and H Balkrishna (MCS), Director, DIPR as the guest of honour.

Speaking as the chief guest, M Joy Singh lauded Netaji as a remarkable leader and urged people to truly understand the momentous contribution of the courageous freedom fighter.

He added that being an independent Nation does not mean simply waiting for the Government to provide everything and urged the people to work together for the Nation to advance as a whole.

As a part of the event, prizes were distributed to the winners of the Weekly Quiz Competition organised by AIR Imphal.

Further, cultural troupes which had received aid through Chief Minister Artist Sing gi Tengbang (CMAT) and others including The Apunba Cultural Training Association, Association for Paona Memorial Arts and Rural Development Services, Kanglei Shaktam Langba Kanglup and Rhythms of Manipur performed various cultural shows.
