Spirit of Netaji invoked on birth anniversary

Imphal, January 22 2023: As apart of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a public lecture on 'Netaji, Azad Hind Fauz and Indian Freedom Struggle' was held today at GP Women's College.

The public lecture jointly organised by the Intellectual Forum of North East-Manipur and GP Women's College, DM University was graced by RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale and DMU VC Prof Naorem Rajmuhon as chief guest and president respectively.

The public lecture was also attended by many Ministers, MLAs and scholars.

Speaking at the gathering, Dattatreya Hosabale claimed that the leader of the Indian freedom struggle is none other than Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

The RSS leader said that the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is observed in many parts of the country as well as abroad on January 23.The Government of India has- already declared the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose as Parakram Diwas, he said.

Subhash Chandra Bose was a courageous leader who dedicated his life to the cause of India's independence, Dattatreya Hosabale said.

At one point of time, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose served as the president of Indian National Congress but he had to quit the post due to strong pressure from different quarters.

Nonetheless, he intensified his struggle against the British colonial rulers.

As a result, he was put under house arrest.

He somehow escaped from the house arrest and went to foreign countries where he built up close ties with the leaders of those countries, Dattatreya said.

As British intelligence agencies intensified their search for Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, he reached Japan.

He set up the Indian National Army (INA) in Japan.

It was Mohan Singh and Nikit Singh who gave the idea of setting up INA to Netaji and Rash Behari Bose was the founder of INA, the RSS leader said.

Mohan Singh had the intention to fight the colonial British Government in collaboration with other countries and his idea was supported by Rash Behari Bose.

Thus the INA was set up, he continued.

Almost 60,000 people who had received military training joined the INA and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose gave Rash Behari Bose a broad guideline of how to fight the British empire, he said.

Rash Behari Bose was so impressed with the idea and suggestion put forward by Netaji that he (Netaji) was made the supreme commander of the INA, Dattatreya said.

Subsequently, a large number of women too joined the INA and it paved the way for establishment of Rani Lakshmi Bai Regiment.

Then Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose made the historic announcement 'You give me blood, I will give you freedom' through radio from Singapore.

From Singapore, Netaji sent a letter to Mahatma Gandhi informing that elaborate preparations had been made for waging a war of liberation against the British empire and he also sought Mahatma Gandhi's blessing, the RSS leader said.

Hindus, Muslims and people from all the States of India including Manipur joined the INA, he added.
