Imphal, July 20 2017: As part of the security measures for smooth conduct of State Assembly session, Imphal West district police carried out cordon and search operation at the surrounding locality of the State Assembly complex today .

According to reliable sources, Imphal West district police led by DSP (Ops) Imphal West, Thangkhochon Haokip, carried out cordon and house to house search operation at the surrounding area of the State Assembly complex, under Lamphel police station, from 5 am to 7 am .

Around 100 houses were searched and the verification work of the residents were carried out by police teams .

Two individuals who failed to produce valid ID proofs were detained by the police team and later handed over to Lamphel police station for further verification .

On the other hand, Imphal East district police also carried out cordon and search operation at Mana Ingkhol and Hatta Golapati areas today and detained 14 individuals for verification .

According to police source, Imphal East commando along with women police under the supervision of DSP commando K Robinson and led by OC Imphal East, B Lunthang Vaiphei, carried out cordon and search operation at Mana Ingkhol and Hatta Golapati from 4.30 am to 6.30 am .

During the operation, around 450 persons including 70 women, were verified and the police detained 14 individuals who failed to produce valid ID proofs .

They were later handed over to Porompat police station for verification.
