Noney, July 17 2022: The death toll in the Noney landslide tragedy has risen to 56 as one more corpse has been retrieved from the debris by the search officials today.

The deceased has been identified as Thuisinliu Gondaimei (27) w/o Lungpuilan Gondaimei of Makhuam (Marangjing) Part-V who is also missing since the deadly landslide struck Noney's Marangching on June 29 last.

With this, the number of missing persons come down to five - one railway worker and four villagers.

The search operation being conducted by multiple agencies entered the 18th day.

Five villagers of Makhuam (Marangching) including a 2 year old baby girl are feared buried by the debris.

The mortal remains of Thuisinliu Gondaimei have been sent for funeral service after verification by Noney police.

Notably, eighteen people were rescued on the 1st day of the search operation.
