Imphal, May 10 2009:
Under its UNIDEP (Unity Development and Peace) Campaign, the AMUCO and its allied organisation AMESCO have donated Rs 25,000 towards treatment of the victims who sustained injuries in the tragic mishap that took place at Sangrungpang in Tamenglong district on May 7 .
The amount was handed over to ZU (AMN) general secretary Dr Xavier Panmei by AMUCO president Yangsosong Koireng at a simple function held in RIMS campus today.
Condoling all those killed in the tragic accident, Yangsosong appealed to the State Govt to check conditions of all passenger vehicles plying in hill districts from time to time.
Decrying that Govt has no specific policy to provide assistance in times of such tragic accidents, he appealed to the victims to appreciate the little assistance provided under UNIDEP Campaign after collecting the same amount in bits from the people.
AMUCO vice-president KT Rehman noted that all the communities of Manipur have been living together and they have been safeguarding the land together.
As such, all the communities should share together both misfortunes and joyous moments, he said.
ZU (AMN) general secretary Dr Xavier Panmei while appreciating the monetary assistance, hailed the UNIDEP campaign.
Later volunteers of AMUCO, AMESCO, ZU (AMN) and ZSU (AMN) jointly visited the injured victims currently undergoing treatment
in RIMS.
