All party meet sets up panel

With the mass movement for enforcement of ILPS in Manipur re-surging with renewed vigour, an all political party meeting was held today and a 13-member committee has been constituted to look into the popular demand.
The meeting which started at 2 pm today at the Chief Minister's conference hall went on till 8 pm.
Representatives of all political parties except NPF were present at the meeting which was presided by Chief Minister O Ibobi.
During the meeting, a 13-member committee headed by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam as president was constituted to study the demand for ILPS together with legal experts.
MLA RK Anand has been nominated convenor of the committee.
Other members of the committee are L Ibomcha, Dr I Ibohalbi, Dr M Nara, Th Manihar, N Sovakiran, Ksh Shanta, K Shyam, Manihar Goswami, M Tombi, RK Sivachandra and N Kabita.
The first meeting of the newly constituted committee has been scheduled at 3 pm of August 9 at the office chamber of the Deputy Chief Minister.
The meeting would discuss about enforcement of ILPS after seeking opinions and views of legal experts.
The meeting agreed that the committee should submit a report to the Government as soon as possible about protection of indigenous people of Manipur and enforcement of ILPS.
It decided to call and listen to the desires and suggestions of representatives of the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System so that the Government and the JCILPS can work together on the popular demand.
The meeting entrusted the task of setting a date to the Government for an all party delegation to go to Delhi after the ongoing Parliamentary session and lobby with the relevant authorities for implementation of ILPS in Manipur.
