State allows social, religious gathering with riders

Imphal, October 05 2021: The State Home Department has announced more relaxations on Covid restrictions by allowing social and religious gatherings.

Chief Secretary and Chairman of State Executive Committee, Dr Rajesh Kumar issued an order to this effect yesterday.

As per the new order which shall remain in force throughout the State till October 21, social and religious gatherings are allowed subject to the organiser or the host ensuring that Covid Appropriate Behaviours (CAB)- wearing of mask, maintenance of physical distance, are followed by all at the venue, the order said.

The gathering should preferably be in open halls and spaces and if the venue is an enclosed hall or space, the number of people inside should be half the capacity of the hall or space, it said.

The order also allowed religious places to open on the condition that authorities concerned or religious establishments ensure CAB are followed by devotees present.

The night curfew from 8.30 pm to 4 am, however, remains unchanged.

The order also permitted all Government offices to start functioning normally with e-office and physical attendance of all employees by taking adequate precaution and following Covid Appropriate Behaviour.

In addition to the previous relaxations regarding health and welfare service, the new order allows all Opticians to open from 9 am to 5 pm.

The order also allowed all standalone shops like shops vending construction materials including sanitary, marbles, tiles, granite, hardware, electrical items, cement stationery etc located outside Paona and Thangal Keithels to open from 7 am to 5 pm; all vehicle workshops from 9 am to 5 pm; local vegetable vendors from 7 am to 4 pm; local grocery shops from 7 am to 5 pm; shops selling fish, poultry and poultry products from 8 am to 5 pm; shops selling milk and milk products from 6 am to 2 pm on all days.

It also allowed wholesale shops of grocery and essentials food located in Thangal Keithel and along Masjid road from 7 am to 5 pm but the schedule for opening shops for retailers in respective districts however remains the same.

Rostered openings of shops in Thangal and Paona Keithels except shops in by-lanes between buildings have also been allowed from 8 am to 5 pm .
