Demanding unconditional release of all the eight women who have been arrested by the police for their alleged involvement in protesting the 59th Republic Day celebration on January 26, a large number of Meira Paibis today staged a dharna at Mayang Langjing community hall today.
On the other hand, necessary preparations have been reportedly made for imposing a bandh along the Uripok-Kangchup Road with effect from 5 am to 5 pm tomorrow in case all the eight women were not released unconditionally within today.
The dharna staged under the banner of ' Release all the eight Imas without any condition', 'Security forces should not target the Meira Paibis', Stop State terrorism', was attended by a large number of Meira Paibis from in and around Mayang Langjing area.
After the protest demonstration, a joint meeting of the Meira Paibis was also convened to discuss the future course of action to be taken up for securing the release of the eight women.
The meeting strongly decried the arrest of the eight women maintaining that all of them are innocent.
In case the, Government does not set them free without any condition within today, the meeting decided to go ahead with the earlier resolution of imposing a 12-hour bandh along the Uripok-Kangchup Road with effect from 5 am to 5 pm tomorrow besides taking recourse to other intense form of agitation.
