Imphal, July 31 (PTI): Chairman of the NSCN (Khaplang) Zeliangrong Region has appealed to the people of the North Eastern region and Manipur in particular not to be misled by the present illusive and flexible deal between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM).

In a statement Capt.

N Panmei said one has to realize that it involves only the NSCN (IM) and not the Nagas in general as misperceived.

Alleging that NSCN (IM) is against Naga unification the chairman said that the talks between the Government of India and NSCN (IM) are transparently guided by the Indian Constitution.

He further said the NSCN (IM) owes a genuine and acceptable answer for killing many Naga leaders for the 1975 Shillong Accord while it is doing the same under the present deal.

He also wanted to know the intention of the NSCN (IM) in entering into a ceasefire with the adversaries (Government of India) while rejecting the same initiated by other factions of the Nagas to pave ways for unification.

He also accused the NSCN (IM) of tying to eliminate NSCN (K) and NNC.

Stating that there is no need to compel the Nagas to submit to the leadership the statement said if the leadership is genuine Nagas shall readily and loyally support the leadership.

The statement also asked if all the Nagas in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Eastern Nagaland also have to flee as Nagas are leaving Imphal valley in order to bring about Naga solution.

He added that Nagas are not waging a communal war with fraternal neighbours.

The chairman also urged the Government of India to treat the Naga issue on mutual trusts and said that India should not expect to solve the issue by striking a deal with the NSCN (IM).

India should stop kidding over the issue by confining its deal with the NSCN (IM) without the consent of the Nagas in general, he said.

It also cautioned the UNC not to dance to the tune of NSCN (IM), charging UNC is an agent of NSCN (IM) and not for the Nagas as a whole.

The chairman of the Zeliangrong Region also warned the Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) and its officials to amend their hasty decisions by returning to the original head quarters (Kakhulong, Imphal).
