Imphal, May 29 2016:
Look East Policy was introduced during the UPA regime and what the NDA Government led by BJP has done is renaming it as Act East Policy.
This is clear indication that BJP is only good at floating false propaganda.
This was stated by Chief Minister O Ibobi during a flag hoisting ceremony of Congress candidate in IMC Ward No 13 at Kwakeithel Moirangpurel community hall today.
Chief Minister O Ibobi, MPCC president TN Haokip, MLA N Biren and ex-Minister L Jayantakumar attended the flag hoisting ceremony as presidium members.
Ibobi stated that Thoubal Multipurpose Project has been completed by 94 per cent and plans are afoot to ensure 24 hours potable water supply within Imphal city.
Laying of underground pipes and construction of tunnels for the water supply project are also nearing completion.
It is being considered to entrust the task of supplying potable water to Imphal city to an autonomous body.
As against the Central Government's demand for 200 acres for establishment of National Sports University, the State Government has already allotted 366 acres but no construction has been initiated till date.
Moreover, the State Government, thinking about posterity, has been working to increase the area to 400 acres.
The State Government has asked to Centre to activate the university at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex and SAI Sports Complex, Takyel as a temporary arrangement before its proper buildings are constructed, Ibobi informed the gathering.
It was the BJP Government's blunder of adding the words 'without territorial limits' to the ceasefire agreement with the NSCN (IM) that literally burnt Imphal in 2001 .
Soon after BJP came to power at the Centre, the Government of India signed a Framework Agreement with NSCN-IN but its contents are still kept as closely guarded secrets.
Whatever are the contents of the Framework Agreement, not a piece of Manipur's territory would be ceded and no one should dare to clamour an inch of Manipur's territory, Ibobi asserted.
Asserting that BJP is one political party which is known for its communal politics, Ibobi called upon all the people not to be swayed by the false propaganda of BJP.
Since BJP came to power at the Centre, the Government of India has been paying little attention to the developmental issues of Manipur.
Even if the Central Government does not release necessary funds for different development works, the State Government would carry on the development works with its own resources, Ibobi added.
He further urged all the voters not to repose any faith in BJP which according to him is only good at providing lip service.
