The Committee on Educational Rights, COER has charged the Governor Ved Prakash Marwah of ordering use of double blast bullets on the demonstrators, which have been banned by the United Nations in 1962.According to a statement issued by the committee, such bullets are used only on enemy and not on demonstrators who were demanding protection of the territorial integrity of the state.
Meanwhile sources said a projectile of the controversial bullet has been recovered following an operation conducted by a team of doctors at a private hospital in Imphal.
The doctors who conducted the operation however declined to comment on the controversial bullet as long as forensic ballistic experts have examined the bullet found embedded in one of the inured in the June 18 firing incident.
The injured has been identified as Brahmacharimayum Bijen 26 son of B Bihari Sharma of Nagamapal Singjubung Leirak.
He sustained a bullet injury on his left thigh during the June 18 incident.
The operation was conducted by a team of doctors led by Dr Palin of the Shija Hospital and Research Institute.
The statement of the committee further charged the Governor with indifference to the people who have suffered injury during the incident and took strong exception to his visit to the injured persons seven days after the incident took place.
The statement of the committee said that the Governor has refused to relax curfew around the JN Hospital where the victims injured during the incident are undergoing treatment, while relaxing curfew for the Rath Yatra festival, terming it as a show of contempt to the people of the state.
