The Manipur Language Development Society, MALADES, Manipur, today observed a function on Manipur language day in connection with the attaining of the 9th year since Manipur language was included in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
A book titled �A course in Manipuri� by MS Ningomba of the linguistics department, Manipur University was release at the function.
The All Manipur Meetei Mayek Research and Training Board and the All Manipur Students� Union today observed the 10th commemoration function of inclusion of the Manipuri language in the Eight Schedule of the Constitution of India.
The AMMMRTB, during an observation function held today at its office at Keisampat with its president Kh Basanata Kumar, while expressing gratitude to all the concerned who took great pain in the movement for inclusion of the Manipuri language in the Eight Schedule, condemned the lack interest on the part of the Union government in uplifting the language even after 10 years of its inclusion in the Eighth Schedule.
On the other hand, the Board expressed concern over the rampant cases of frauds whereas large amount of money are being collected some voluntary organisation or individuals from the Meetei Mayek enthusiasts in the name of providing teaching job and charged that some officials in the education department are directly or indirectly involved in such cases.
In this regard, the Board appealed to the people to find out such frauds and punish them appropriately.
Another observation function was held at the AMSU headquarters under he aegis of the union with Ng Nongyai advocate and ex-president of AMSU, as the chief guest; AMSU general secretary CS Khongsai as the president and K Lanngamba, advocate and ex-general secretary of AMSU and N Sarojini Devi, President AMKIL, as the guest of honour.
