Imphal, October 05: In a shocking repeat of the kidnapping of a minor boy here last year which sent revulsion throughout the town, a three and half year old boy was snatched from under her mother�s bosom and taken captive for ransom last Sunday night, sources said.

Ironically, the place of the kidnapping is only a stone�s throw away from last year�s kidnapping site.

However, no confirmation with the child�s parents and relatives is possible as they refused to talk to anyone on the matter, fearing for the life of their only child.

Information culled from various sources in the area by The Sangai Express confirmed however that the kidnapping indeed occur.

The kidnappers were about six in number but three of them, wearing masks, entered the house at Chengkonpang here around 7 pm and took the child out, a man who was in the area at the time said.

The kidnappers also fired some pistol shots when they came out to frighten those who saw the incident, he added.

Other sources said that the kidnapped child was here with his parents on a weekend trip from Imphal.

The child, identified only as Khuollien, is the only child of his parents, who have some business interest at Imphal.

Independent sources also said that the kidnappers were well versed in all local dialects.

They also reportedly have no other demand except money.

Family sources said that the child�s mother is in shock and has been without food and sleep since the incident.

She is trauma, they added.

Army action condemned: A column of army headed by a Major forced four civilians to guide them and �act as human shields� when they passed the area between Semoul and Shijang villages last Sunday, locals alleged.
