Govt to scout Private schools for invigilators

Imphal, February 28 2011: With the Council of Teachers' Association (COTA) refusing to budge from their stand, the Government must scout the private schools for invigilators for the upcoming Class X and Class XII examinations.

This was stated by SPF spokesperson N Biren at a function held at Heingang during which a newly developed playground was dedicated to the people.

Even though Government teachers are on ceasework strike demanding implementation of 6th Central Pay in toto, the crucial Class X and Class XII examinations cannot be deferred or skipped, Biren said.

In the entire North East region, only Arunachal Pradesh has implemented 6th Central Pay because of which Arunchal Pradesh Government is running into crores of rupees in deficit.

Biren said that the newly developed playground would be a very valuable asset for sports lovers of Heingang.

He also appealed to all public leaders to shed the parochial outlook of Leikai-ism.

The playground dedicated to the public today was developed by the Heingang Mayai Leikai Sports and Development Committee spanning over 17 years.

Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Works Minister K Ranjit said that Heingang, which has produced many national and international players, deserves good playgrounds.

Observing that the people of Manipur have been facing untold miseries, Ranjit said that the people's woes are gifts of political leaders.

The successive Governments never worked with a long term vision.

They were rather more interested in tackling issues on ad-hoc basis.

Not a single issue has been resolved permanently, he asserted.

He also called upon the people of Heingang to understand the responsibilities being shouldered by their representative regarding various issues of the State.

Claiming that Rs 15 crores have been sanctioned for Heingang Assembly constituency through Works Department from State Plan, Maintenance etc in the last four years, Ranjit said that Rs 15 crores have been earmarked for construction of a bridge at Heinang Awang Leikai.

For black-topping the road from Heinang Awang Leikai to Makha Leikai, Rs one crore has been set aside and the same work of black-topping would begin from this week, Ranjit said.

During the current year, 99 per cent of the roads in Heinang AC would be black-topped, he added.
