Last rites of Sopaiba, Nongdon performed

Imphal, October 25 2024: The last rites of PREPAK (Pro) captain Wahengbam Saratkumar alias Sopaiba and lance corporal Nongmaithem Boneysana alias Nongdon were performed at Langol Hills, here, on Friday while that of PLA captain Oinam Babu alias Gullu is scheduled to take place on the riverbank in Leikon, Heirok, on Saturday.

Saratkumar and Boney sana were from Hiyanglam Awang Leikai and Wangkhei Angom Leikai respectively while Oinam Babu hailed from Kadam tala in Jiribam district.

The three were reportedly killed in a gun.

battle with KNF (B) in an area on the Indo-Myanmar border, on October 23.As bodies of Saratkumar and Boneysana were brought from their homes to the Langol hill range in Iroisemba area, many people paid floral tributes.

Ritual ceremonies were conducted at Langol Hills prior to their cremation.

Prior to transportation of the bodies to Langol, people paid their last respects and offered floral tributes in a religious ceremony conducted at Lailon Lampak in Heirok on Friday.

Those present included meira paibi activists and functionaries of various civil society organisations.

Gullu's father Oinam Kunjababu will also participate in the last rites on Saturday.
