Kangpokpi, July 19 2024:
The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Sadar Hills Kangpokpi district strongly condemned alleged fatal police encounter involving three Kuki- Zo youth on July 16 along Kabuganj Amjur road in Cachar, Assam.
According to CoTU, three Kuki-Zo youths named Lallungawi Hmar, Lalbiekkung Hmar and Joshua Laringsan were killed in cold-blooded manner by Assam police at Kabuganj Amjur road.
The committee called for a special judicial inquiry into the alleged fake encounter involving the three Kuki-Zo youths and demanded punishment of police officers involved to ensure fair justice.
While asserting that there has been no significant improvement in law and order to alleviate the situation in Manipur, CoTU said that the nation remains mere spectators to the ongoing violence in Manipur.
It appealed neighbouring states not to be influenced by the policies of Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh and his cohorts.
The CoTU also expressed concern over the custodial deaths of the three Kuki-Zo youths, which casts a shadow over the governance of Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa, otherwise known for his effective governance.
