37,052 students appear HSLCE-2025 in 155 centres

Imphal, February 19 2025:
Altogether 37,052 students are appearing in the High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLCE), 2025 conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BoSEM), which commenced at 9 am on Wednesday.
The examination is being held across 155 centres.
Of the total number of candidates, 18,460 are male students and 18,592 female students, with government school candidates accounting for only 1210 .
Many students who are staying in various relief camps as IDPs are also appearing in the examination, along with students falling under PwD category.

In Noney, a total of 919 students appeared for the examination in four centres, namely Tengkonjang Higher Secondary School, Longmai (328 students); Sharon English High School, Longmai Bazar (258 students); Nungba Higher Secondary School (176 Students); and Khangsillung Higher Secondary School, Khoupum (157 students) .
So far, there have been no reports of expulsion from the four examination centres.
Meanwhile, around 964 of the 973 enrolled students appeared for the examination at five centres in Tengnoupal district on Wednesday.
Tengnoupal district ZEO Sokhulun Baite personally visited each of the centres, where the examinations were conducted.
A total of 135 students sat for the examination at Tengnoupal Government High School, 290 at Moreh St George high School, 222 at Machi High School, 269 out of 275 at St Joseph High School, and 149 out of 151 at MG Evergreen Higher Secondary School.
In all, 9 students were absent on the first day.
In Jiribam district, 525 out of 531 enrolled students also appeared for the HSLCE examination on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, volunteers of COCOMI Students' Front, Jiribam and other student bodies inspected the three examination centres in the district, namely Jiribam Higher Secondary School, Sorok Atingbi High School, and Borobekra Higher Secondary School, to prevent use of any unfair means.
ZEO Jiribam also ensured that no unfair means were used and peaceful conduct of the examination.

On the other hand, in Senapati district, altogether 1695 students appeared for the HSLC Exam at eight centres.
Around 203 students appeared at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Maram; 192 students at Mao-Maram Higher Secondary School, Tadubi; 161 students at Sardar Patel High School, Mao; 198 students at Bethany Higher Secondary School, Senapati; 203 students at Lao Radiant Higher Secondary School, Karong; 229 students at DAV School, Senapati; 308 students at Purul Higher Secondary School; and 201 students at Paomata High School.
ADC/ADM Rang David Kung, who is also the district nodal/coordinating officer for the examination, stated that all arrangements have been made before the start of the examination.
Earlier, the officer briefed every detail to all examination officers in-charge, security personnel and all exam in charges.
He stated that authorities of most of the exam centres in the district are experienced and well versed in following all the formalities of the examination.
He further informed that the district administration has constituted inspection teams headed by an assistant inspector of schools from ADC, Senapati including three graduate teachers each.
The team is to inspect the law and order, and ensure smooth conduct of the examinations, with each visiting two exam centres during the examination.
The officers-in-charge of each exam centre were instructed to take care of the physically challenged students, if there be any student who needs special care.
A Quick Response Team (QRT) has been constituted to attend to any emergency, he added, while appealing to all concerned to ensure a safe and peaceful atmosphere throughout the examination.
Meanwhile, the district's apex student body, Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) along with Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTM) inspected Paomata High school exam centre, which is hosting the examination for the very first time this year.
SDSA president Saloni Tony exhorted the candidates to take the exam calmly, advising them not to panic or succumb to fear or anxiety.
He also stressed the need for maintaining fairness in the examinations, while assuring a clean and healthy environment in the exam centre.
The centre was also visited by BSEM's flying squad led by Kuba John, AI.
Meanwhile, around 1860 students appeared for the examination in Kakching district at different centres on Wednesday.
A total of 284 students (143 female, 141 male) sat for the examination at Kakching Higher Secondary School; 295 (153 female, 142 male) at Victory High School, Kakching; 250 students at Kakching Khunou High School; 397 at Langmeidong Higher Secondary School; 288 at H Keinahal Memorial English School, Langmeidong; and 346 at Wabagai Higher Secondary School.
Kakching district police are taking up strict security measures to prevent any unwanted incidents at the centres.
