Seized arms, ammunition disposed of

A cache of weapons and ammunition seized by security forces on March 1 this year was disposed of near the Key Location Point (KLP) post of Assam Rifles on Monday.
A joint operation involving Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) of 5 and 25 Assam Rifles, along with police personnel, led to the recovery of a large cache of weapons and ammunition in the vicinity of Elora Hotel, Moreh.
In the early hours of March 1, security forces received intelligence reports indicating the movement of unidentified individuals and suspected to be carrying warlike stores in the general area of Elora Hotel.
Acting promptly on the inputs, the QRT teams, in collaboration with police personnel, cordoned off the area and conducted search operation.
Despite initial observations yielding no suspicious movement or items, the search continued till.
around 6:05 am, subsequently resulting in the troops discovering a sack concealed under a water tank on the roof of an abahdoned building.
Upon inspection of the sack, security personnel uncovered a cache of warlike stores, including one .38 pistol with one magazine and two rounds, 10 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), three 36 HE hand grenades, 85 rounds of carbine, and 10 rounds of AK rifle.
Following the recovery, the items were safely disposed of by the authorities at KLP post of Assam Rifles around 10 am Monday, mitigating the potential threat posed by their presence in the area.
