Imphal, February 04 2025:
The more than 21 months of restive situation in Manipur is artificially created and this is very clear now, stated AMUCO president Pheiroijam Nando Luwang.
Speaking at the 22nd Foundation Day celebration of All Manipur Meitei Pangal Clubs' Organisation (AMMPACO) at Manipur Press Club Tuesday, Nando Luwang expressed that amid Manipur remaining in the grip of unrest situation for the last many months lack of serious initiatives by the government of India since May, 2023 till date leave nothing to doubt that the situation is fallout of a diabolic plan.
He asserted that as the restive situation is being orchestrated by government of India all unwanted consequences shall have to be borne by centre.
While urging the people of Manipur introspect genesis of the conflict, the AMUCO president said people must stop blaming each other and instead air collective concern to the government of India.
The present conflict is between a group of people who want to divide Manipur and another having firm resolve to protect Manipur with the indigenous Meetei community at the forefront.
Both groups armed with highly sophisticated weapons are allowed to fight for a long time but people are well aware about covert backing of Government of India to one group.
Since initial days of the conflict many had been wondering from where and how Kuki-Zo militants could be in possession of sophisticated weapons, he said adding that the main objective of the Government of India is keeping alive the restive situation in Manipur to ultimately uproot the indigenous people.
According to Nando Luwang, widespread search operation is continuing in the valley along with establishment of anti-extortion cell and arresting people as per the law of the land.
However, it is questionable as to how many people have been arrested by anti-extortion cell in the hills or a different law is being applied in the hills.
If security advisor Kuldiep Singh is still controlling state home department, he should be able to declare number of weapons recovered from the hills and the valley during combing operation.
Among the weapons recovered so far, around 80 percent could be from the valley and hence the people would not accept namesake recovery of weapons from the hills.
Steps taken by the Government of India and series of actions carried out by security agencies clearly demonstrate their attempts to divide Manipur, Nando alleged adding that state government's denial of people to protect lives and properties on their own indicates their intention of dividing Manipur.
Even though unaccounted numbers of foreigners are entering Manipur illegally, the Government of India takes no action.
Such indifferent attitude towards Manipur has been most glaring from the time the country was ruled by a political party for a long time.
Urging the Government of India to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur, Nando said that the people of Manipur should take a decisive stand if Government of India is unable to restore peace and normalcy.
The event was also attended by AMMPACO president Yumkhaibam Rahman, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur president Sorokhaibam Memcha, All Manipur Women Voluntary Association president Yumkhaibam Kunjarani, Indigenous People's Forum, Manipur president Ashang Kasar, Lilong Haoreibi college principal in-charge professor Md Abdul Sattar and Kshetrigao Apunba Nupi Lup president Ipham Jano and Moulana Mufti Ramjuddin as presidium members.
