Imphal, August 03 2025:
Inspector Adaso Kapesa from Kaibi village, Senapati district has made history as the first ever woman to serve in the Special Protection Group (SPG), India's elite force responsible for the Prime Minister's security.
Kapesa's role came into the spotlight during the Prime Minister's recent visit to the United Kingdom, when images of her standing beside Narendra Modi went viral on social media.
Her presence drew widespread praise, with netizens hailing her as a trailblazer and a symbol of women's growing role in India's top security echelons.
Her journey began in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), a Central Armed Police Force under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Kapesa is currently with the 55th Battalion stationed in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand.
Her selection to the SPG marks a significant milestone for gender inclusivity in Indian defence and paramilitary services.
The SPG, known for its rigorous physical, tactical and psychological training, is tasked with protecting the Prime Minister and, in certain cases, former prime ministers and their immediate families.
Until recently, the force was entirely male.
Kapesa's assignment is being seen as more than just a personal achievement.
Many have called it a breakthrough moment for women in security and law enforcement, one that could inspire more women to take on high-stakes roles in uniform.
Social media users have described her as a role model whose determination, discipline and skill have broken barriers in a male-dominated held.
Her appearance alongside the Prime Minister in London has become a powerful image for many, symbolising progress and changing perceptions of leadership in India's elite security services.
