WY tablets worth Rs 24 cr, 125 gm heroin seized

Imphal, November 30 2022: A combined team of 5 Assam Rifles, Moreh police commandos and sleuths of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized World is Yours (WY) tablets estimated to worth Rs 24 crore in the international market from a residence at Moreh Ward No 4 Phaicham Veng at 12 pm Wednesday.

According to a police report, the combined team, while searching the residence recovered the contraband items concealed in 43 packets in two sacks.

However, the owner of the house fled before the arrival of the search team, the report said, adding that the seized contraband items weighing 47.4 Kg have been handed over to Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) .

Meanwhile, Khuga Battalion of IGAR (South) reportedly recovered 120 gram of heroin worth Rs 48 lakh from Songdoi village in Churachandpur district on Wednesday.

In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that based on input received from own sources regarding transhipment of contraband items from across the Indo-Myanmar border, troops of Assam Rifles launched an operation near BP-36 and apprehended a drug peddler coming from across the border.

On thorough search of the individual, 120 gram of heroin contained in 10 soap cases were recovered.

The recovered items along with the drug peddler have been handed over to Singhat police for further investigation, the PRO said.
