CCpur, October 31 2022:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president MLA K Meghachandra on Monday inspected the conditions of a road, the fund for which was sanctioned under the PMGSY 2014 programme but has not been properly implemented.
It is alleged that the road project was left incomplete despite withdrawal of funds after completion certificate was issued in 2022 .
Peeved over this, the Gangte Tribe Council reported the matter to the chief minister on Monday but no action has been taken yet.
The GTC leaders had been running from pillar to post to make sure the road construction was properly taken up for the benefit of the poor inhabitants of this remotely located village but to no avail.
No one had paid attention to the matter until it came to the knowledge of the Con gress leader who soon started the investigation.
The road in question is divided into three portions, namely Part I Galkapkot to Gamhui (back-topping 8km) the cost of which is estimated to be Rs 350.5 lakh; Part-11 Galkapkot village to Gamhui (9km) with an estimated cost of Rs 390.38 lakh; and Part-III (from Galkapkot to Milongmun) with an estimated cost of Rs 8.29 lakh.
The core complaint is of Part-II and Part-III sections which are left without blacktopping.
Portions of the Part-III section are said to be in worst condition.
The MPCC president called it looting of public money and demanded that the contractor concerned be taken to task by the government.
