Power employees likely to launch stir from April 3

Imphal, February 14 2015 :
Manipur Electricity Employee's Union (MEEU) has warned that it will launch a stir by locking up Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL or HOLDCO) and Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL or DISCOM) from April 3 if its demands were not fulfilled by the Government.
This was stated by MEE General Secretary L Rajen during the 48th Annual General Body Meeting of MEEU at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound on Saturday.
MEEU General Secretary said the Union has been demanding regularization of work-charge employees and those on master roll by April 2 .
Delivering his speech as the Chief Guest, Works and Transport Minister Kh Ratankumar claimed that duration of power supplied to the consumers has improved in recent times and this will act as an impetus for the develop-ment of Manipur.
The minister also pointed out that the government ini-tiated the process of conver-ting the power department into a company with an aim to improve the supply and distribution system.
The meeting was attended by INTUC Senior Vice President Elangbam Dolendro; Managing director MSPDC R Sudhan; Joint Secretary, Government of Manipur Th Kiran Kumar and Hill Area Committee Manipur Vice Chairman Z Kikhonbou Newmai.
