Imphal, September 13 2012:
The 12th Foundation Day of National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) was celebrated at Manipur Press club here today.
The function was attended by RK Ranendrajit, Editor of Freedom; Yumnamcha Nabachandra, President of UCM; Sunil Karam, President of NIPCO; Khupler Kom, Advisor of NIPCO and BM Yaima, President of UPF as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, RK Ranendrajit said that even though India claims that it is one of the largest democratic countries in the world, yet the people of Manipur have been suffering from colonial rule of India and have lost their freedom ever since Manipur was merged into Indian Union.
He further stated that Manipur has been crushed under the iron hand of India with many of its colonial policies and draconian Acts which were once practiced by the British in India.
RK Ranendrajit also mentioned about AFSPA, which is being imposed in Manipur despite relentless protest of the people.
UCM President Yumnamcha Nabakumar categorically stated that it is a foolish idea on the part of the people of Manipur to consider the MLAs of the State as their leaders.
In fact, the present MLAs are nothing but a bunch of self centred businessmen who are only thinking of accumulating wealth for themselves at the cost of the people.
As such, it is high time for all the organizations working for the welfare of the people to come together and identify all the individuals and groups which are against the people, instead of fighting among themselves.
