Imphal, March 11 2014 :
Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) is still wrapped up in making a clear stand on whether it would field its candidates in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls or not, but most probably it is unlikely that the party would be in the fray for the two seats of Outer and Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituencies, for which elections would be held on April 9 and April 17 .
The party had earlier made an effort to field its candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, but now it has shifted the idea, Yumnam Mani, President MSCP told Hueiyen Lanpao on Tuesday.
He said the party is likely to take a decision in the next two/three days on the particular party it wants to support in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
Asked whether the speculation that the five MLAs of the party are joining the Congress is true, he said people are buzzing around on the party's purported plan for joining the State Congress, however it cannot be ascertained as of now since the MLAs have not yet resigned from the party.
However, sources said that the five MSCP MLAs are now constantly in touch with the State Congress leadership as they are willing to join the latter ahead of the general elections.
If the Congress ensures to offer ticket to the party in the next State Assembly elections, MSCP is all set to support and give vote to the former in the Lok Sabha polls, they said.
