Govt assures Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia

Representatives of the JAC formed in connection with the killing of Class XII student Seigunlal Misao on March 26, met Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday and came to an agreement with the government.
During the meeting, the JAC and family members of Seigunlal conveyed their grievances to the CM, who expressed sympathy and deep condolence over the death.
After considering the matter in detail, the government gave assurances to the JAC of sanctioning Rs 5 lakh as ex-gratia.
It also assured that the police will expedite efforts to complete the investigation so as to arrest the culprit(s) at the earliest and consider compassionate appointment of an eligible next-of-kin of the deceased to a suitable post under the government.
In addition, the Home and Police departments were instructed to take up necessary action accordingly.
The JAC then agreed not to resort to any agitation in view of the steps taken by the government.
