RIMS conducts 4 Covid caesarean deliveries

Imphal, June 22 2021:
Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) on Monday conducted four caesarean deliveries on Covid patients, including two difficult cases in a span of 12 hours.
Stating that the feat will be remembered as a milestone for RIMS department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, media advisor N Phillip Singh informed in statement that RIMS had in the past also conducted two cases of Caesarean Section including on a patient to needed breech in labour and another patient with fetal distress.
Senior resident Dr Manjushree, PG passed out students Dr Pavithra and Dr Florence, PG final year student in Obst & Gynaecology department Dr Dhivya Bharathi along with Dr Magdaline, Dr V Vasantharajan and Dr Brati Mukhopadhyay from Anaesthesiology department carried out the Caesarean Section.
Dr Nafisa of Paediatric department was also involved in resuscitation of the new-born baby in distress and bringing back to life, added the release.
Caesarean section or Caesarean delivery is a surgical procedure by which child delivery is made through an incision in the mother's abdomen, often performed because vaginal delivery would put the baby or mother at risk.
