Imphal, August 10 2009: United Committee Manipur (UCM) has tipped off the people to be cautious of the Chief Minister staging a new drama of refusing 'fake encounter,' after the defeat of his surrender drama.

A statement issued by the IPR secretary of UCM, Kh Nilamani Kha-Nganba pointed out that the surrender drama staged under the direction of the Chief Minister, who also holds the Home portfolio, has at last been defeated.

It became more clean-cut day by day that the Chief Minister had committed various felonies to save his seat.

It tips off the people to be more vigilant as the pictures carried by Tehelka magazine can be countered by producing 'living witnesses' after baiting them with incentives.

The UCM is watching the entire episode vigilantly.

The CM should know that suspension of lower rank police will not curb the people's movement.

Instead of degrading the moral of lower rank policemen why not he come out admitting he has ordered them to do so, the UCM statement challenged.

In case if the commandos say that it were their bullets coming out of the muzzle of their gun that killed the people, would it be appropriate to place the bullets under suspension, it questioned.

The CM might have thought of producing a man to counter the Tehelka photos by saying that he along with Sanjit had come out for a mission and he was killed in a real encounter.

On this, the UCM cautioned everyone to be alert while also appealing not to be a victim of the government's 'false' propaganda.

The UCM statement stated that the entire populace is standing together on one side of the present 'psychological warfare.' The immoral police personnel and officers should be terminated from their service.

The CM should also be pulled down from his post.

There will be no retraction until the CM is dethroned.

It also hailed the resignation of Dr Nara from the post of secretary of the SPF Steering Committee.

The statement stated he might have tendered his resignation against the daily killing incidents of the land.

It said that the act of such senior politician as Dr Nara would go a long way.

Coming down on the MLAs, the UCM statement questioned why the MLAs are not performing their duties.

It stated that the people will teach them a lesson.

It asked whether Ibobi is only the high command.

It categorically asked why the MLAs did not know their moral responsibility.

The statement reminds the MLAs that this is an opportune time to topple the leadership that will also be sincerely rewarded by the people.

It would be right to gauge the sentiment of the people.

This is not the time to remain busy with the rice, sugar and other quotas.

The agitators are all citizens of India.

They are all voters in the 60 constituencies.

It is an agitation to open the eyes, the statement stated.

It added that those who lead the people on the front are known as leaders.

There is every reason to say that those who retract are timid.

The UCM statement also asked whether the parents of the commandos could reprimand their wards who are in the commandos.

It further urged the ruling parties to oust just only their leader before the parties are wiped out from the soil of Manipur.

Drawing the attention of the Governor, the UCM statement condemned the arrest of Ema Sakhi, Ema Memma and Ema Nganbi Leima from the Governor's gate while coming to air their grievances to the Governor.

It further stated that the arrest of Apunba Lup leaders and the attempt to arrest more will not help in containing the agitations.

It pointed out that the agitation is not only of a particular group(s).

It observed that it is the outburst of the long accumulated angst and dissatisfaction of the people and JACs against several fake encounter killings, extrajudicial killings, and atrocities under the AFSPA, 1958 .

The UCM statement stated that this is a people oriented movement and the solution will solely remain with the collective decision of the people.

The Chief Minister should resign before the people's frustration cross the limit.
