Kangpokpi doctors protest at CMO office

Kangpokpi, November 09 2022: As part of the on-going agitation of All Manipur Health Services Doctors' Association (AMHSDA), doctors post ed in Kangpokpi district staged a sit-in protest on Wednesday demanding the state government to fulfil the association's charter of demands.

After donning black badges while on duty for the past few days, the doctors under CMO Kangpokpi staged the sit-in protest in front of the CMO Kangpokpi office.

Doctors under the AMHSDA started wearing black badges on duty on November 1 to denounce the state government's alleged lackadaisical attitude towards the demands of the association, despite repeated appeals and reminders by the association apart from recommendations from various MLAs, ministers of the state and even an MP for resolving the long-pending genuine demands of the association.

The doctors under the AMHS -DA then intensified their stir from donning black badge to sit-in protests from November 8 at the complex of Indian Medical Council (IMA), Lamphelpat, Imphal.

The charter of demands of the Doctors' Association include time-bound promotion in the service career; extending retirement age up to 65 years for all medical health service doctors; creation of director general post for Health Services, Family Welfare Services, Public Health and Medical Education; fixation of Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) with retrospective effect January 1, 2016 as per the 7th Central Pay Commission, strict adherence to the Transfer and Posting Policy of Health Services 2017; allowing MHS doctors to hold top posts on seniority basis; implementation of proposed MHS Rules 2020 and Amendments; and to make rural postings compulsory and provision of allowances for postings in difficult area.

The protesting doctors in Kangpokpi also made their stand clear that they will support any further course of action decided by the AMHSDA in the future if the government fails to fulfil the charter of demands.
