BBBP campaign held, medical camp organised

As part of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative, Kakching district administration on Thursday handed over a sanitary napkin vending machine and an incinerator free of cost to Kakching Higher Secondary School.
This initiative aims to improve access to menstrual hygiene products for female students and promote safe and hygienic menstrual practices.
One of the primary objectives of the BBBP scheme is to enhance awareness around Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM).
The distribution was carried out under the supervision of the district administration, in collaboration with the District Protection Officer (DPO), ICDS Cell, Kakching, and the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Kakching.
Launched in 2015, the BBBP scheme seeks to address gender-based discrimination and strengthen the delivery of welfare services for girls.
To raise awareness, officials distributed notebooks and posters featuring detailed information about the Women Helpline and Child Helpline.
They explained to the students and teachers of the Secondary School that anyone in distress can call the toll-free Women Helpline at 181 or the Child Helpline at 1098 for immediate assistance.
Similar awareness materials were also distributed to students at Wabagai Higher Secondary School to extend the reach of the initiative and reinforce knowledge about support systems available for women and children.
Meanwhile, a daylong free medical camp was organised by Lingjelthoibi Village Level Federation (VLF), Wangoo, a joint body of self-help groups (SHGs) under Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM), in collaboration with Community Health Centre (CHC), Wangoo Laipham at Wangoo Laipham Awang Primary School on Thursday.
At the camp, CHC MO in-charge Dr Leishangthem In-aocha, doctors, nurses and staff attended to around 113 people and provided required medicines along with conducting tests to assess blood pressure, blood sugar level, KFT, LFT, etc .
The camp was also attended by Lingjelthoibi VLF president Mayanglambam Joymala, secretary Sanasam Ibemcha, cashier Sanasam Lily, master book keeper Sanasam Sarita, SISD cadre Moirangthem Monika and members of SHGs under the said VLF .
