Time for Kom youth to defend themselves: FoH

Stating that Kuki people are not only attacking the Meetei but also abusing, assaulting, harassing and extorting people belonging to the Kom tribe, an indigenous community, Federation of Haomee (FoH) stressed the need for the Kom youth to arm themselves for protecting their villages.
In a release, FoH president Sapamcha Jadumani recalled that suspected armed volunteers of KNF (MC) German fired several rounds at Ichum Kom Keirak village on May 4 around 8 pm.
The miscreants abducted a 58-year old man named KT Kom and left him after being brutally assaulted.
Pointing out that the incident was not the first at Ichum Kom, he said that several incidents of assaulting the village chief and intimidating women and children have also occurred in the past.
As the villagers could not tolerate atrocities of Kuki militants, they complained to the state government following state police personnel are deployed for protecting the village, Jadumani addecL Since the conflict that broke but on May 3 last, Kuki narco-terrorists have been coercing and intimidating people of minority indigenous communities, he said, while demanding the government to take up necessary preventive measures.
Mpreover, Kom youth should start thinldng of arming themselves to protect their own villages, he added.
